Turning Companion: Woodshop Planner & Calculators, by Boroughsoft · Last updated October 26, 2026

The short version

Turning Companion is made by Boroughsoft, a brand of Borough Craftworks LLC. It has no accounts and no server of its own. Everything you enter, such as offcuts, designs, photos and project notes, is saved only on your device. The app shows ads from Google, and Google may collect device information to show and measure them.

Data you enter

Your inventory, designs, settings and project log are stored in the app's local storage on your device. They are not sent to us or anyone else. Files you export or share go only where you choose to send them. Uninstalling the app or clearing your browser data deletes this information, so use Back up everything on the home screen to keep a copy.

Advertising

The free version shows one small banner ad served by Google: AdMob in the Android and iOS apps, and AdSense on the website. Google and its partners may collect and use information such as your device's advertising ID, IP address, approximate location and how you interact with ads, to show ads, limit repeats, measure performance and prevent fraud. Where the law requires it, you are asked for consent first. On iOS the app does not ask to track you, so ads there are not personalized using your device's advertising identifier.

See how Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services. You can reset or limit your advertising ID in your phone's settings, or turn off personalized ads at Google Ad Settings.

Purchases and tips

Pro and tips in the apps are handled by Google Play or the App Store. Boroughsoft does not see your payment details; the store only tells the app which purchases you own so it can turn off ads.

Supply links

Some tools suggest supplies with links to Amazon. As an Amazon Associate, Boroughsoft earns from qualifying purchases. Following a link takes you to Amazon, where Amazon's own privacy policy applies. The app does not track which links you open.

Permissions

The app may ask to use your camera or photos only when you choose to add a photo to a piece. Photos stay on your device.

Children

Turning Companion is meant for adult woodworkers and is not directed at children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date.
